Extra Curricular Activities
The normal school timetable is complemented by a variety of extra curricular activities designed to discover or further develop children’s individual interests. There are numerous clubs which provide the pupils with opportunities to discover new interests and abilities.
Outings to the theatre are organised and also to places of educational or sporting interest.
The School Choir and Recorder Group provide musical accompaniment and entertainment for different occasions such as our Christmas Carol Service and Leavers’ Service, both of which are held each year at St Alphege Church. Children are also offered the opportunity of learning to play various musical instruments with peripatetic teachers. These include piano, violin, guitar, flute and clarinet. All children partake in ensemble playing during music lessons.
Pupils from Nursery to Year 6 participate in staging various school concerts where children and staff work together as a team to produce entertainment which is always a sell-out.
Children are encouraged to take part in all extra curricular games and activities. The School participates in the annual Independent Schools Association Athletics Meeting held at the Alexander Stadium and also in local football, netball and hockey tournaments. Inter-house matches are organised with the aim of developing children’s skills in competition, fair play and co-operation.
A residential activity course is offered, during the Summer Term, to children in Year 6. This exciting and challenging week of outdoor activities is aimed at building the children’s self-confidence and helps them to achieve a fulfilling level of independence.
