As pupils move into Middle School their personal and social development remain the cornerstone of the education we offer at Ruckleigh School.

Inevitably pupils’ workload and responsibilities will increase as they transition from Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 2 work begins and their academic progress is closely monitored. Verbal and non-verbal reasoning are are important parts of the curriculum introducing children to the skills and preparation required for the 11+ examination process. However, it’s important to note that as the curriculum broadens it provides individual children opportunities to shine in other subject areas, giving them more scope to explore specialist subjects, such as history and geography, in greater detail. Increasing emphasis is also placed on practical learning and problem solving as well as encouraging improvements in self-discipline, resilience and personal organisation.

For the first time children have the opportunity to represent the school in a busy local fixture list of team sports where historically they have met with a considerable degree of success.
